Oblivion SuperPack's Survival Guide:
Guide updated 07/11/11
for FCOM SuperPack v6.4.2 Final
-First Important Note:
When starting a new game wait AT LEAST 5 seconds before doing anything.
Also when loading an existing game, remember to wait few seconds. The game needs to load all the mods!
Setting up the starting game:
-COBL Options:
Once ingame, open the inventory (Tab) in the misc items you'll find a "key-like" item named "+[Mod Options]", it allows to change some aspect of the game related to Cobl and other compatible mods like OOO.
In order to improve your game experience i suggest to make these changes:
From Cobl Options:
*Denock Arrow -> Enable (allows you to denock the arrows with the grab key).
*Fame/Infamy Tracker -> Enable (allows you to track fame/infamy).
*Move Quest Items -> Enable then *Notify when moving quest item -> Enable(+).
*Spell Delete -> Enable.
From Oscuro's Overhaul (in Cobl options):
*Torch Hotkey -> Disable(-) (we don't need this hotkey, instead, we use Enhanced Hotkeys to hotkey our torches).
*Fish Spawns -> Disable(-) (there is already MMM adding new fishes, disabling OOO fish spawns may reduce land fish glitch).
-Unofficial Oblivion Patch Options:
In the "Mod Options" you should find another "key-like" item named "Unofficial Oblivion Patch", it allows to change some aspect of the Unofficial Oblivion Patch. If you don't find it in the Cobl Options, it is in the misc items, just open it and will be incorporated in the Cobl Options.
In order to improve your game experience i suggest to make this change:
*Disable the "Follower Duble Face Fix" spell (It could be exploited as a "free light source", compromising the game immersion).
-Disable the Music:
In the game options, it's hardly recommended to disable the music, in order to make the game experience more immersive. The game music automatically starts when you are jumped by an enemy, making you aware of the danger unrealistically. Also, the music prevents from hearing some new nice sound and ambient effects i've added to the game.
-Mod Infos:
In the misc items there is a item "+[Mods Info]", it will explain Cobl features and list all Console Commands.
-You also have a Keychain to store all your keys, and have less clutter in the inventory.
LET'S START THE ADVENTURE!
-Skip Tutorial:
Since Patch v5.2.0, you can skip tutorial dungeon by loading an included savegame right before exiting the sewers! All the starting options/settings suggested above are already configured, you will just have to pick up name, race, birthsign, profession and exit sewers. All the collectable rares, gold, potions are in your inventory, plus a basic set of heavy armor and weapons...
-First steps in the sewers:
The first quest will play normally, the torch you'll find right after having met the Emperor will be very dim: don't worry, it's only that torch, the next ones will be much brighter! You will notice that torches are really a must-have in FCOM SuperPack: the darkness is total and without a light source you won't even be able to kill a rat. So be careful.
-Dynamic Class:
Characters evolve over time, and sometimes your initial class concept does not reflect your skills at level 10 or 20. However, those original skill selections still affect you: class and specialization skills increase faster than others. Anyclass allows your character to completely adapt, and get better at increasing the skills you've actually been increasing!
HOW TO INIZIALIZE ANYCLASS FOR CUSTOM CLASSES:
When you pick up a default class, AnyClass is already enabled, but if choosing a custom class you must specifically flag a character for use with Anyclass. This can be done by ending the name of that class with a space. (To keep it nicely centered on the character sheet, you can start it with a space as well).
-Combat Fumblings:
You turn a bend of the road and suddenly find yourself confronted by a band of 5 bandits.
Well, no matter.... Open inventory, load armor, select just the weapon you're going to use to mince these annoyance. This one? No, maybe that one. Or maybe that one there? Done? Fine. Exit menu and back to world with no penalty at all for being caught with your cuirass down.
Well, **No More!** -- Combat Fumbling penalizes you for spending time in menus in combat situations by freezing the player in place after exiting the menus. During the penalty period, you'll be unable to move, cast spells or swing weapons.
HOW TO DISABLE CF INGAME: Open +[Mod Options] -> Combat Fumbling -> reduce "Max Penality" to 5 and rise "Threshold" to 5 also.
-My Skills are decaying!
Your skill will slowly decay if not used for a long time or when a new skill upgrades in rank, a skill
which just gained a rank is protected from a small amount of immediate decay. This, used in synergy with AnyClass mod and Realistic Leveling, creates a really dynamic, realistic and amusing character developing system. But, if you mind, you can easily disable this addon un-checking the plugin in OBMM; rebuilding Bashed Patch is not needed.
-Updating Stats:
When choosing race, sign and class at sewer's exit, your stats will automatically be raised to a value compatible with your choosen class, don't worry, this is intended.
-Sprint:
Press "X" to sprint, you must have a VERY LOW encumbrance (around 20%) to be able to do so. Remember that sprinting drains your fatigue very quickly!
-Sneak Eye not working properly?:
Wrong. Sneak eyeball won't show the status "hidden" or "detected", it now shows the quantity of light falling on the player, giving therefore an indication of the probability to be discovered. This is far more immersive and challanging than the vanilla feature, imho.
-Looting is a crime:
Looting Guards is always considered a crime, while looting friendly NPCs is considered a crime in cities only. Don't be a fool, loot only who deserves to be looted .
-SHOUT!:
Press "G" to shout and call for nearby NPCs, they will help you if you are a victim of a crime/aggression, if you are the criminal they will attack you instead, so be carefull! You can also ask NPCs to follow you.
-Watch Fatigue:
The fatigue indicator must be kept under control. You'll lose fatigue when running and carrying a lot of stuff, when you have low or zero fatigue, your will not be able to run/jump, fight less efficiently and risk to collapse on the ground, which is not the ideal during combat... Also, you can even carry more than your maximum capacity, but the more you carry over your maximum encumbrance, the more health and fatigue you will gradually lose, so don't carry everything you'll find.
-Backpack:
But fortunally, when you start the game, you'll get a nice backpack on your shoulders, in order to carry all the stuff that you don't wear or don't have hotkeyed. In case of necessity, you can drop it to avoid to get overecumbered, so you can fight or sprint and flee from combat. Press "B" to drop the Backpack, all items that are (1) not equipped, (2) not hot-keyed, and (3) not a quest item will be removed from the player's inventory and put in the dropped backpack.
-No Map Markers?:
In order to sign on the map the new-discovered map markers you have to talk to a guard and pay 5 gold for each map marker discovered so far, so if you discovered (without having added) 20 locations, you have to pay 100 gold to a guard to sign them on your map. But player marker, compass and fast travel are gone, definitely, for realism sake!
-No Compass?? DarNified UI Config:
I have edited the xml files to PERMANENTLY REMOVE the COMPASS and LOCATION INFO, they are really annoying and hurt the game immersion. You can of curse enable them back, however, the settings will be lost when you quit the game.
To change these settings, in the world map, you will notice a small symbol in the bottom right hand corner. Click this to bring up the map configuration tab. Using this tab, you can toggle any combination of markers from the map.
-Eat/Drink/Sleep:
Yes, you have to drink, eat and sleep to survive:
In order to drink, open your inventory, in the Misc Items there is a "-= DRINK =-" click on it and you drink... but only if you filled your water sacks! Fill them from rain barrels and wells, you can also drink directry from water barrels.
To eat, go again in the Misc Items and click on the "-= EAT =-", it will open a menu from which you can choose what food to eat. Remember that hunger will be satisfied only by eating from the +Dinner dish! Eating the ingredients directly from your inventory will only grant you their normal alchemical effect. All the game food (also the ones from mods) satisfy hunger, each one in different amount.
To sleep, just sleep, you can also buy portable bedrolls to sleep outside, just be sure there are no enemies around. Use left-shift + action button aiming to the bedroll to pick it up.
You can also buy from some shops the CAMPING GEAR, an assorted list of items useful for camping, like bedroll, tent, campfire, rain barrel, stood etc...
If you won't eat/drink/sleep you will suffer stats/skills loss, and eventually death!
-Bury Deads:
Go over to the body. Open the console (\). Use the mouse to click on the body (make sure the name of the body is shown at the top of your screen to ensure you've selected the right object), and then type: Disable.
-Horse Name:
Open the console, use the mouse to select the horse (make sure its name appears at the top of the screen to ensure you've selected it properly), then type: SetActorFullName "Name you prefer".
NOTE -The game will save automatically every 3 - 6 minutes!
