I had trouble getting FCOM Superpack working on my GOTY Steam install of oblivion,
but after much reading on this forum and others, I think I have got most of it working (I still have a lot of bugs/problems but not sure if they are caused by this mod). This is my attempt at an install guide and includes instructions for disabling/customising some of the more hardcore mods like combat fumbling, let there be darkness etc. Most of the following info can already be found in other posts, but I have put it all in one place for you. If you have the Steam GOTY version of oblivion this guide may help. Some of my instructions may be wrong, I'm not the expert, but its better than nothing. Also, I run Win 7 pro x64 (I dont know if that is relevant). INSTALLATION: start with clean steam install run game, start new game (to create ini files), exit install all 8 official DLCs (~60MB) get from: - http://www.4shared.com/folder/MKxZ1Rb8/The_elder_scrolls_iv_oblivion_.html (even if you have Steam delux version, do this as FCOM SP does not work with that) if using QTP3 (high res textures), install that now (~2GB) install FCOM superpack 6.0 (3 files ~2GB): - extract the first file and run it (make sure other 2 are in same place) - if using steam point installer to: "...\Steam\steamapps\common" - it will install TweakOblivion also install 6.4.2 patch, select unmerged install (I had trouble with merged install) patch oblivion.exe with 4GB patch (recommended) ------------------------------------- The mod will not work properly now (Darn UI menu not working, no backpack on player at start of game etc), so, follow these instructions to rebuild the bashed patch: (partly quoted from:
Run Wrye Bash, in "Oblivion\Mopy"). order the list by load order, the first mod should be "Oblivion.esm [SI]" and the last "DynamicLeveledLists.esp" On the bottom-left side of the window there is a bar, check for "BOSS", if you hover the cursor on it, it will display "Launch BOSS", click on it. if BOSS does not run, find the BOSS .exe and run it. (not sure if this is needed) Right click on "Bashed Patch, 0.esp" (the third last in the list) and select "Rebuild Patch (CBash *BETA*)". if you want to disable "Let There be Darkness" (dungeons are totally dark): - On the left list, go in "Merge Patches" and DEACTIVATE the 3 "Let There be Darkness" plugins - Now go in "Import Cells" and, again, DEACTIVATE the 3 "Let There be Darkness" plugins press "build patch". If a pop-up window will ask you to deactivate some esps, say YES to all. -------------------------------------- start oblivion through steam. if done correctly, game start (in prison) should show better textures(if using QTP3), FCOM popup intro should show, character should be wearing a backpack, the interface (inventory etc) should have smaller text/look different), HUD should have no compass, additional health bars, and time should be at night (look out window in cell) -------------------------------------- DONE...sort of ################################################################ to fix some things and if you want to make the game a bit less hardcore/easier, continue... ################################################################ FILE EDIT CUSTOMISATION (only do this if you are good at editing configuration files): to fix Clannfears and/or Daedroths having stretched and/or missing heads: go into the Data\Meshes\Creatures\Clannfear folder and delete Clannfear.NIF and Skeleton.NIF, then go into the Data\Meshes\Creatures\Daedroth folder and delete Daedroth.NIF and Skeleton.NIF and it should resolve the problem. to Enable player marker on map: Go in Oblivion/Data/ini folder. Open the file "Map Marker Overhaul.ini" with the notepad. to center map on player "set tnoMMO.hideMapPosition to 1" to 0 to show player on map "set tnoMMO.hidePlayerMarker to 1" to 0 to show quest marker on compass (when enabled ingame) "set tnoMMO.hideHudQuestMarker to 1" to 0 to not have to pay guard to add new map markers "set tnoMMO.hideNewMarkers to 5" to 0 to disable "skill decay" addon, un-check the plugin in OBMM(oblivion mod manager); rebuilding Bashed Patch is not needed. for a FPS boost but possible stability loss (I had no problem): go to Data\obse\plugins\sr_Oblivion_Stutter_Remover.ini Master\bReplaceHeap: (defaults to 0, consider changing to 1) works well in a multithreading environment modify auto save settings in \data\ini\kuerteeautosaveandtime.ini this is if you want to change rate of autosaves, its self explanatory (I would try higher values) with skill gain/leveling rate quite slow, go to \data\realisticleveling.ini enable the parameter: setGS fSkillUseFactor 0.35 and set to 0.25 if you want faster skill gain, or something lower if you want even faster skill gain change economy settings in \data\ini\enhanced economy.ini change trade buy/sell price ratio% (these are my personal preference and make it slightly easier, you may want other values): set tnoEE.sellMin to 30 set tnoEE.sellMax to 60 set tnoEE.buyMin to 130 set tnoEE.buyMax to 200 cost of services reduced to compromise between vanilla(easy) and hardcore mod settings: set tnoEE.rechargeCostMult to 3 (from 6) for recharging enchanted items set tnoEE.trainingCostMult to 20 (from 60) (you can change others too if you want) increase home made potion sell value to 0.35 (was .1 - too hardcore, vanilla is 0.45 - too easy depending on sellMin/Max, set to .35 if Min/Max ~ 30/70) change time compression ratio (game time vs real time) in \data\ini\RealSleepExtended.ini go to bottom of file, lower the values if you want days to be longer. to change enemy spawn settings, run data\dynamicleveledlists.jar (requires Java to run) change max spawns to 1 (from 3) this reduces the amount of enemies in dungeons and may reduce the bugs (I had) resulting from too many NPCs being in a small area. ################################################################ INGAME CUSTOMISATION: to disable combat fumbling (freeze penalty for using menu while in combat): ingame, go in the misc item menu, Open +[Mod Options] > Combat Fumbling, reduce "Max Penality" to 5 and rise "Threshold" to 5 also (press the Shift key while clicking to reduce values). when setting up character and chosing custom class, end class name with space " " for ANYCLASS mod to work with it. Anyclass makes skill gain more dynamic, allows major & minor skills to swap place based on usage. useful cheats: tgm (god mode) tcl (noclip) tdt (show fps) twf (wireframe) ################################################################ Hopefully this will help you get FCOM SP working, or at least more so than before reading this. |

my game seems to be running more stable after I disabled some mods that may have been causing problems for me. I disabled (using wyre bash):
Francescos optional chance of more enemies chapel tithe DropLitTorches Marts Monster Mod - Diverse WaterLife book placement armorers advantage combat fumbling skill decay I'm not sure which ones may have caused me problems, but my game runs more stable now (1 CTD per hour instead of 1 CTD per 20 min or so) I say this on the small chance it helps you if you have similar problems. |
