The CFL announced its 2014 schedule on Wednesday and the Montreal Alouettes will once again open the regular season on the road this year, this time against the Calgary Stampeders on Saturday, June 28. Less than a week later, the Alouettes will host their 2014 home opener on Friday, July 4 when the B.C. Lions visit Percival Molson Stadium for a 7:00 p.m. start. Fans can get used to the Friday night lights this summer as the Alouettes will open the weekend five times with Friday evening home games from July 4 through September 7, before shifting over to Sunday afternoon games for the autumn season, plus the annual Holiday Monday tilt on Thanksgiving. Montreal fans wont have to wait long to finally meet the Ottawa REDBLACKS, as the Alouettes newest -- and now closest -- rivals will be in town on June 20 for a pre-season tune-up, before visiting again on Friday, August 29 at 7:30 p.m. After a nearly 10-month wait, the Alouettes will be eager to avenge their 2013 CFL East Division Semi-Final loss to Hamilton when the Tiger-Cats visit Percival Molson Stadium on September 7 for the first meeting of the season between the two Eastern rivals. The defending Grey Cup Champion Saskatchewan Roughriders, meanwhile, will visit on Thanksgiving Monday, October 13 at 1:00 p.m. (See the Alouettes full 2014 schedule below). The Alouettes will also visit two new stadiums in 2014, returning to the nations capital for the first time since 2005 on Friday, September 26 to visit the REDBLACKS in Ottawa during their inaugural season, before closing the year opposite the Tiger-Cats at brand new Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton on November 8.

. Kane returned to score a goal and added an assist, leading the Winnipeg Jets to a 3-2 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday night.TAMPA, Fla. -- Yankees captain Derek Jeter says Japanese pitcher Masahiro Tanaka provides a huge boost to New Yorks rotation. After going 24-0 in Japans Pacific League last season, Tanaka agreed this week to a $155 million, seven-year contract with New York. "The game is pitching," Jeter said Friday at the Yankees minor league complex. "If you have great pitching, you always have an opportunity to win. From everything Ive heard, hes going to be quite an addition to our team." Tanaka was 99-35 with a 2.30 ERA in seven seasons with the Rakuten Golden Eagles, striking out 1,238 in 1,315 innings. He joins a rotation that includes CC Sabathia, Hiroki Kuroda and Ivan Nova. Following just the second season in 19 years that didnt include a playoff appearance, the Yankees also agreed to deals during the off-season with catcher Brian p;McCann ($85 million for five years) and outfielders Jacoby Ellsbury ($153 million for seven) and Carlos Beltran ($45 million for three).dddddddddddd "Our team has been known to make financial commitments to a lot of people throughout the course of the year," Jeter said. "Any time you have ownership thats willing to spend money and trying to do whatever they can to make the team better, it feels good for us as players." The 39-year-old Jeter finished his first week of on-field work, which included hitting off a tee in a batting cage and fielding grounders on the grass in front of the infield dirt. He said he feels good. After breaking an ankle during the 2012 playoffs, Jeter limited to 17 games last year when he was slowed by injuries to his right quadriceps and calf. He hit .190 (12 for 63) with one homer and seven RBIs. ' ' '
